I wrote about predicting the Presidential election using OR here and here.
An article in the Wall Street Journal by Numbers Guy Carl Bialik (he has a cool blog and writes a column about sports) writes about the likelihood of a tie in the Presidential election. The article features the model by Sheldon Jacobson (from the University of Illinois), Steven Rigdon and Ed Sewell (both from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville). Obama has surged ahead, so the likelihood of a tie is nil, but it would be cool if it happened.
On another note, Mike Trick wrote about a web page by Mike Sheppard of Michigan State who quantifies many votes would have been needed to reverse the result in every US Presidential election.
