RIP Robert McNamara, operations researcher

It has been a busy summer for me, and I am finally getting back to my routine after travel to Boulder for the Enabling the Next Generation program and taking a trip to the Shenandoah mountains (no shortest paths here–we enjoyed the scenery!).

In the midst of all of this, Robert McNamara passed away earlier this month.  He used operations research methodologies both in the war efforts and for the Ford Motor Company.  I don’t have too much to say, since I wrote about this earlier this year (Link).  Larry from IEOR Tools has two posts about McNamara that are worth checking out.
