Here are five visualizations of social networks.

Social networks of high school relationships. The network can be used to identify how to combat sexually transmitted disease outbreaks among teenagers (Bearman et al. 2004)

The six tribes of FaceBook. The analysis is provided by Pete Warden, who used SNA to divide users into six geographic tribes based on social network measures.

A network of political books sorted according to political leaning. This graph can be used to illustrate how partisan things are nowadays. It's hard being a moderate.

The social interactions in Victor Hugo's Les Miserables. I'm not really sure how this can be used, but boy did I enjoy this book and musical.

A graph of my twitter followers. I won't describe this any further, since I used a website to create this visualization, and the details are a bit sketchy. Still, it's fascinating.

If you want an excel plug-in that will log into twitter and pull a list of your twitter followers (and your followers’ followers) then check out NodeXL. It’s being developed by a group at University of Maryland’s iSchool. http://nodexl.codeplex.com/

Nice pictures! I especially like the twitter graph. Which web site did you use to create it? Thanks!
